osario Baluyot was 11 years old when she died on 20 May 1987. She was a street child in Olongapo, the Philippines, and was a victim of sex tourism involving the commerciai sexual exploitation of children. Her death was the result of such exploitation by an Austrian physician. Majgull Axelsson has reconstructed Rosario Baluyot's short life which she vividly and with great insight describes in the form of a documentary novel. "I have never been so moved, shocked and disturbed by a book before. I did not want to read on, but felt bound to continue. On returning home to my own wonderful child-ren, the book called from the book shelf and drew me to it constantly. Several times when I was reading it I turned back in dismay to the front page and the word documentary, hoping deep inside that this word would not appear there."
